Has any recent consideration been given to China and its demands? FGR to become collateral damage at some point?
Recently:
China claims half of Tajikistan's land because of infrastructure loans
China demands $10m payment to Exim Bank for wastrel spending on infrastructure.
We know the situation in SL is the same. Experienced traders know exactly where I am going with this.
https://thediplomat.com/2019/05/is-sri-lanka-really-a-victim-of-chinas-debt-trap/
The article explains that the root cause is absence of foreign currency. For example selling $2,000/t graphene to companies who sell at $400k/tonne. China wants resource access. You can figure it out.
Some will know the maxim, hungry pigs get fed, greedy pigs get slaughtered.
This next article only one day after the link above:
https://asia.nikkei.com/Politics/International-relations/Sri-Lanka-piles-on-more-Chinese-loans-amid-virus-and-debt-crisis
...secretary to the president, appealed to more than 1.2 million public-sector employees to donate all or part of their May salaries to help close the budget deficit.
The 900 tonnes of graphite FGR currently holds would be worth, post-processing, an ambitious $200k/t that is $180m. Current market cap is $60m.
Let all that sink in.
