It may look to be a silly question but a good look at the strategies of both companies would indicate that the purchase of WMA shares by WAR fits within the strategy of WAR. Besides the charter behind the WMA shares indicates that shareholders are empowered to wind up the company if the shares do not trade above the pretax NTA at least 3 times over the next 5 years. So it does look as though there is nothing preventing WAR from investing in WMA to its advantage.
