Roger Montgomery has 3 decades experience in financial markets in Australia, is an author of books on (Value) share investing, & has written in the AFR, The Australian, Age/SMH etc. Furthermore, he, is often a guest on ABC programs.
He is also a Fund Manager, applying Value principles- but is very wary a market crash is a real possibility.

In this ABC NightLife program, with ABC host P.Clarke, on 19.7.22, he suggests there may be a level of "safety" in the current markets by investing in stocks "that have structural tailwinds behind them"- including "coal & oil stocks"(&, I assume, gas), which "are needed to transition to RENEWABLES , which will take longer than many expect...There has been underinvestment in oil & coal, there are shortages".

These are called "sin stocks" by Clarke, & Montgomery is gently rebuked.

Montgomery also supports the long term thematic of the "EV revolution...& DECARBONISATION (all emphases, mine)", & specifically mentioned LITHIUM stocks etc.

The current high oil, gas, & coal prices, if they continue, support movement to renewable energy in general, & EV's in particular.
