Certainly, Mr Ian Smith has tremendous experience and the positions he had in the past speak for themselves. I have been waiting for years for something to happen in Hillside but it seemed that the permitting was the obstacle.
I believe the MD Mr. Laufmann when he said: “that is shovel ready” and the initial capital of roughly US$500 million is the last step before mining. Hillside will have many advantages over other big IOCG projects in South Australia, infrastructure and 30m of overburden only. In the cases of Olympic Dam and Carrapateena, the ore body starts at 500m down.
Time will tell but the economics of both projects look very good, Hillside and the Hog Ranch.
