    No one will give you free lunch in share market, they must have some benefit to do a valuation update (revenue from Fund manager/ CEO to do an update, profit gained because of the price movement).


    On the question of whether they benefit from providing a valuation update, well of course they do.

    That's the very business of stockbrokers: to conduct research on publicly listed companies, calculate valuations and to generate investment recommendations to their clients based on that research and the resulting valuations. In exchange for brokerage commission when their clients pay them for trading in shares.

    What else did you expect?


    In that light, do you have any evidence that they profited illegally from the price movement subsequent to the issue of their report?
