The Natural Resources Defense Council’s NRDC Action Fund and the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund said that if Kennedy drops out and endorses former President Donald Trump, as he is said to be planning to do this week, it would be complete a betrayal of his previous environmental advocacy.
Kennedy, the son of former Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of the former President John F. Kennedy, was once an environmental lawyer and a major figure in the movement, including at the NRDC and the Waterkeeper Alliance. He was even once rumored to be in the running to lead EPA, or take another environmental job, under former President Barack Obama.
