There is a 10 min Closing Auction after 4pm, when brokers settle outstanding imbalances among themselves....not buyers and sellers. The Final print after 4:10 (and a few seconds) is the official Close of day. Same in the early morning too, pre-open Look up ASX Trading schedule on their web site. I don't fully understand it, but its to resolve "overlapping orders". When seller prices are lower than buyers, or vice versa. i.e. Something has to "give"
