I also use the absorption method, the key is getting exactly the right amount of water for the rice (approx 1 fingernail depth of water over the rice in the pot). I boil the water and simmer on low for 10mins then turn off and wait for another 10mins without lifting the lid. We buy the 5kg bags of Basmati rice when it's on special.
