Agree with a). If Saddam had stayed in power then the Middle East would be more stable. Colossal blunder by Bush and Blair in particular. Howard just went along with the US.
But nevertheless we can't ignore ISIS and Australians over there fighting for them and wishing to harm us. It will probably take years and we may well end up in ground operations. Milne wants a timetable but wars never work like that.
Other point is we have to cut our intake of muslims from the Middle East. Too many have divided loyalties:
