Vespasian03,
I take it your views extend to former PMs. I note John Howard and Bob Hawke and politicians from all sides attended the funeral. While I deplore cartel behaviour it is one of those areas that IMO the law has been not clear in what is acceptable and what is not. The fiasco with petrol prices and ongoing saga between Telstra and the ACCC amongst others is evidence of that. Further, in this life we all make mistakes for which we usually pay a price but if a person has also done extensive good deeds they should IMO also be acknowledged. That many prominent and ordinary people from all walks of life acknowledge a myriad of good deeds from the deceased should therefore not be overlooked. If the percieved transgressions involved criminal violence I would not be inclined to be charitable but that is clearly not the case. Just my thoughts on the matter.
