A truly great effort from Richie Porte, who is a very honest and hard working Aussie rider, a true sportsman.
Only the second Australian ever to make the podium on the Tour de France, so he deserves many accolades.
The only riders ahead of him were two Slovenians, which in my kind of jaundiced view, might be considered quite suspicious, and the winner was the youngest rider to win in over a hundred years, so I hope their testing regime is up to par.
Anyway, for many years, Richie crashed out at stages, but this year he showed his true potential.
Not sure if he will retire now, but probably so, because he'll be 36 years of age before next years tour.
Maybe he has one more tour left in him.
Either way, it was a great effort, and he is to be wholeheartedly congratulated. Well done mate.
