It looks pretty good over the last 30 years which is probably longer than most peoples investment timespan.
We started getting back into it in 2015 and are approximately 75% ahead on those purchases and still 10% ahead on our purchases this year alone in AU dollars.
While there has been some flat periods it certainly out performed our properties so far.
I wouldn't bet the house on it though!
