i think an important point is being missed by a lot of commentators here. options are a long term incentive and not worth a cracker if they don't reach the strike price. it is absolutely in the interest of the person with those incentives to get the share price well above the strike price. that is of benefit to the holder of the option and more importantly the shareholder.
i don't give a rat's how many options they are given, as long as it drives my investment up.
