the unusually regular and desperate appearances of John Howard in the current election campaign is rather interesting. Why would Howard be so outspoken this time, in trying to help keep the LNP in power? Could it be because he dreads the prospect of a new federal ICAC being set up with the ability to investigate issues of dishonesty in past governments (including his)? And I'm not just thinking about the big lie of "children overboard" of course. The military invasion of Iraq - that led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens and then the formation of ISIS - was based on a lie told to us by John Howard and foreign minister Alexander Downer. A lie that was also shared by GWBush and Tony Blair.

Also, before the illegal invasion of Iraq, fishnets Downer was deeply implicated in the corrupt wheat for oil scandal. The list goes on and there can be no doubt that a new federal ICAC would certainly have rich pickings, if it decided to look into the dishonest practices of governments led by Howard and his shonky ministers.
