My recollection is that DB said the well was drilled in the wrong place, after it had come up a duster... well of course it was drilled in the wrong place when all it pumped up was salt water! Wasn't there some legal action taken against one of the contractors for drilling where they werent supposed to?

I dont recall the stats but i did read a while back that the rate of "duster" wells drilled is quite high onshore and offshore and some prospects are drilled many times before the sweet spot is found.

Naturally offshore wells are vastly more expensive, but a duster on the first well of PEP11 by no means should be interpreted as the whole prospect being barren of gas, when there is evidence to suggest there is gas across the whole basin. How much gas and where to tap it offshore is the problem.
