Novartis Said in Talks With Merck on $5 Billion Swap

Novartis AG ( NVS ) is in talks with Merck & Co. Inc. ( MRK ) on an about $5 billion asset swap in which Novartis would trade its animal-health and human vaccines businesses for Merck's over-the-counter health-products unit, Bloomberg reported Wednesday evening, citing people familiar with the matter.
