Investors have paid $8.50 a share for stock left over from the retail portion of Vocus Communications' rights issue on Thursday afternoon, as revealed by Street Talk.

The shortfall book of 9.3 million shares was auctioned off by broker Credit Suisse after market.

The stock was sold at $8.50 a share, which was a 95¢ a share premium to the $7.55 rights issue price.
It means Vocus shareholders who did not take up their stock at the rights issue would receive 95¢ for each right renounced.

The institutional bookbuild, held earlier this month, cleared at $8.42 a share.

The bookbuild marked the end of Vocus' $852 million rights issue, which was used to pay for its acquisition of Nextgen Networks.

Vocus shares closed at $8.66 on Thursday.
