Presuming this will now eventually lead to a downstream offer for EXT - it will be very interesting to see what the response of EXT management is to the "value" of the offer.
Also it will be interesting to see how mining analysts view the offer - compared to other takeover values within the industry. It could at least put pressure on for an increased offer.
RIO's willingness to sell at this price - could also give an incentive to other global mining co's to have a go at an EXT takeover. Rio must be involved with the Chinese in some form to have accepted this.
Still a long way to go IMO.
