    I don't have knowledge of this, but I suspect that RIO's mining license is/was at risk, as is any mining company in those countries and they may have gotten more than a friendly nudge to assist Chinese wishes

    Could be why RIO bought elsewhere as insurances

    Can't win a war against your own customers
    And stepping back may have been the best move
