The best thing about this ann is that RIO now has a stake in the emissions free energy sector, and will probably take up the cause of emissions trading etc.
BTW they are in partnership with BP not BHP - BHP is expeted to announce its own similar clean energy plan soon... in near future...
From today's announcement...
"The costs of this low-carbon hydrogen-fuelled power generation are higher than those of
traditional power generation. For the project to be economic and able to compete effectively
in the electricity market, it would require appropriate policy support and a regulatory
environment which recognises and encourages the low-carbon benefits it can deliver."
