Look at the huge value of shares in these companies traded today - some $854 million worth of RIO and $810 million worth of BHP.
These are huge sums of money in just two stocks - not little speculators having a punt but serious money, big money.
RIO looks like a 7 in 10 chance of being the recipient of a takeover bid.
It could be BHP ... a Japanese consortium or a Private Equity bid maybe in cahoots with other mining interests.
There seems too much money in play for this just to be a beat up or a rumour.
I reckon it's 'game on' for RIO (at least).
