Westsurf, I've always thought this to be an incredible reflection on the management of Rossing, and of RIO by proxy. I recently read that the Rossing deposit was actually discovered in 1928. I believe development began in the late '60s or early '70s, not sure which. Big company politics are hard to grasp; I struggled incessantly when I worked inside one. Sometimes it seems that they see a bit of risk at H/o and freeze up, when good local management are quite capable of getting the job done. Meanwhile, H/O goes ahead to make calamatous c*ck-ups, as RIO has done in recent times, that do far more damage than a minor investment in a bit of local exploration could have ever achieved, even if it had come up dry. But come to think of it, my current boss is a bit of a deadbeat so maybe I shouldn't be too harsh (I work for myself! :))
