I am surprised by both Rio and BHP not entering RE space.
Rare earths is small beer in terms of the scale these companies have in Iron ore but RE is very different and the monopoly advantage is available.
In addition the emerging RE applications seem so important that it is hard to see the majors would not want to dominate.
Perhaps they have both decided that they can watch for the time being an buy later.
