    RE separation is not as straightforward as other mineral refining, think copper, steel etc. RE oxide production is chemical production, far more nuanced and 'fidgety', a reason that majors would really have to see strong benefits before they jump in. Sure, they could have RE in their by products, tailings, but they don't currently have expertise in the refining. They could look at partnerships with Lynas, for example as a way of getting in the game. Either way, the show of interest in itself bodes well for Lynas.
