I recall hearing that the former editor of the Bulletin removed that from the front cover about 50 years ago in the late 1950s. That really was a different world from what we have now, so it's best if you got your facts and context right.
As regards discrimination, just remember that it is rife in all parts of the world, including China. The recent deaths of non-Han minorities working outside their homelands shows that it is still rampant there, without even considering what is happening to them in their own homelands by the Han migrants.
