You can't do anything in China as a native without handing out the folding stuff. How do you get to an appointment without bribing (or tipping) the cop who sees a speck of birdshit on your windshield, or the security guard who does not want to let you inside without you leaving your mobile phone and briefcase at the door. It goes the whole way through. And to pay your phone bill you need to queue up in person . . . or . . .

Westerners don't get the same treatment as we make too much fuss.
