    Lets look at it from the top down.

    Japan,a highly industrialised country with no raw resources or coal or LNG can import the lot fro Aus , make money in manufacturing and then invest
    in Australian mines & energy
    Korea followed suit 2 decades later
    And two decades after that China followed in a mega way.

    The solution for Tawi Point is to add the additives to the molten aluminium, cast it into more valuable products such as engine blocks, transmission housings , wheels etc , machine via cad/cam (minimum labour input) and sell as "Green Aluminium" products to German, Jap & Kprean EV
    manufacturers. This would lift the ingot value at least 3 fold, improve NZ GDP & balance of trade.

    Of course, like Aus, the NZ Government would have to show leadership and, as such, compete favourably with China.
