Rossing has produced a total of 98k tonnes over 33 years at an average 6,500 lb/yr - not to shabby. Production was over 9,000 lb/yr for the last two years.
Demand has been there but the price hasn't thanks to the Megatons to Megawatts Program stuffing up the supply side. Plans have been approved to increase nameplate capacity to 9,920 lb/yr and significantly extend the mine life to 2023 - no doubt to take advantage of the increasing reactor build and the M2M expiring in 2013.
