I think Eagle makes a good point but it is not valid given eags unfortunately tried to rewrite history in not mentioning Howard's policies and the state of illegal immigration at the end of his final term V's those of Rudd and the state of affairs at this current time.

Howard inherited similar policies to what Labor use now but he made significant changes that Rudd wound back for votes at the polls.

Given the way they have been treated you could not possibly imagine that they were encouraged here on humanitarian grounds.
