The one whom pride brought down was the king of babylon, it being king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon who is the great villain, the Satan in the OT. 'Satan' also meaning anyone who acts in opposition. Satan in the book of Job acting following the instructions of God to the letter in testing the faith of Job. Christianity developed the idea of satan as one who acts in opposition into the Devil who fights against God.
