QUEENSLAND’S new Labor Government is considering letting more criminals stay in the community rather than put them behind bars in already packed jails.
Jo-Ann Miller, the new Police and Corrective Services Minister, said she was worried about the conditions prisoners were in, doubling up in cells, and facing a construction bill of more than $1 billion for new jails if radical action wasn’t taken.
She said serious offenders would be kept behind bars but lesser risk criminals could be better off monitored in society.

Providing the "criminals" are offenders such as drink drivers or some other silly misdemeanour, not paedophiles or murderers! But of course we the plebs will never know who is walking free due to privacy laws.
The new Labor housing minister also wants to undo the "three strikes you are out" legislation for public housing "tenants" introduced by the Newman Govt.

So those morons that trash public housing or refuse to pay their rent will be allowed to stay and keep trashing and living for nothing under the newer kinder ALP!

She also wants to undo the legislation that would allow the Govt to re let a public housing house to some one else if the person stayed away for more than 4 weeks.

The system was being severely rorted in that people were living over seas for up to 6 months of the year then coming back to live for bugger all in the public housing. That's why the Newman Govt changed the rules...the grizzlers were always moaning that there wasn't enough public housing and people had to wait too long to get in.

The Newman Govt also controversially altered the rules where a single person living in a 3 bed Public Housing property could be moved to a more appropriate property and let the house to another family in need that had kids.

The ALP is going to take QLD back 50 years overnight! All the intelligent initiatives will be wiped out.

Along with Palachuk's "initiative" to suddenly sell state assets instead of keeping them as she promised. I hear the ALP cheer squad making excuses for that back flip already!
Industry is running for cover already...I haven't heard any of the jobs, jobs, jobs, crap that Palachuk spewed every time a microphone was stuck in her face a few weeks ago!

    RIP Qld...
