"The deaths of dozens of people on August 16 has thrown South Africa into a frenzy of outrage, grief and soul searching. President Jacob Zuma announced that the following week would be declared one of mourning>" cont.
OK.... some maynot like capitalism but unions wouldnt even exist in a socialist state..imo. Their right to exist and their power to negotiate only operate in a democracy and with respect for capitalism ...imo respectfully negotiating better wages and conditions is in itself a capitalistic ambition embraced in the system that empowers unions and must work/succeed or the capitalist/union system fails...imo.
"Sharing" is a process embedded in SA culture but its meaning and effects can run into problems/misunderstanding etc... imho. Sharing profits? increasing wages? equal increases of wages? community support? chiefs responsiblities to share amongst their people etc... all trying to happen at once... that doesnt need to happen in Australia...we dont have an embedded sharing thought culture as strong as SA. Its very difficult for SA to accommodate all this sharing on so many levels and still compete against other cultures, imo.
If they werent a capitalist economy they would just share their minerals with the rest of the world...and remain poor forever. Those who want to more individually might not realise that they are tending towards capitalism and perhaps putting pressure on to change the other ways of sharing ...dont you think?
I noticed an instance of sharing in a small south african child that would not occur here in Australia... The difference was a natural/instinctive one and cant be denied or overlooked, imo.
