The seville grapefruits and oranges are now falling on the ground in our orchard and every morning we pick them up. I made a large batch of seville grapefruit marmalade the other day - deliciously tangy.
CRK is like a large ripe fruit ready for picking. Our dollar is down to seventy odd cents and gold is up to $US865 currently. Currently gold is at $A1,200, surely near the record ever price for gold.
If CRK's cash costs are anywhere near the $300 mooted, there is a gigantic margin of profit available.
The quarterly report is due out any time from now and it should show a very significant increase in the reserves - perhaps even a doubling or tripling.
The resources too should rise by at least a million and possibly two million ounces.
With reports of people selling their houses in the UK and putting the entire proceeds into gold and people not being able to buy physical gold because of shortage of supply, one would think that the gold miners will be busy digging it out of the ground as fast as they can.
Time will come when CRK's gold will be wanted urgently to replace the gold being hoarded.
In the meantime, back in Possum Creek, last year's baby koala, Eep (from the noise he made when he left his mother's back) fell out of the black bean tree near the house a few minutes ago. He dusted himself off and ambled around the path and climbed a camphor laurel in which a black mountain possum was asleep.
I don't think they care one whit about the global meltdown. Humans are such crazy animals. They care more about what is happening with the American housing market than their own homes and protecting their habitat from global warming. When will they get their priorities right?
