I made this same point a month or so back.There are countries such as Japan that are doing serious research on RE substitutes.I dont see this as a serious threat though as it will take time and also be expensive.ARU can make a lot of money at RE prices a lot lower than where they are now.
It is disappointing that management cant sell their prospects to the market and get the sp more in line with ARU's underlying value.
The "price destruction" you mention may well result in a take-over if management cant get the sp up.I would hate to see a takeover at less than fair value, but thats what happens in situations like this.
If I was a major rare earth consumer I would be looking at a takeover of ARU and selling product that was excess to my needs to other RE consumers.
