Having reached a three-and-a-half year low of $0.415 on 26 Jul 2012, MPO’s price had a steady rise to reach an interim high of $0.69 on 11 Oct 2012 at which point the benchmark WTI oil price was at about US$0.936. Since then MPO’s price has had a prolonged fall to a six year low of $0.27 on 31 Dec 2012 and during that time WTI fell to a low of about $0.84 an 11% fall which would have had a much bigger impact on projected profitability. But now WTI is back to about $0.93 again so presumably this will have a positive effect on the outlook for MPO's price to offset recent production rate disappointments.
