You said "Now Dargie pointed out the other day that PPP was using up all its Australian franking credits and raised the question "why?". The obvious inference in his view was that it used them up and cleared the decks because they would be lost in a takeover."
This is plainly wrong, as the franking credits will survive a T/O. Just look at AWE-ARQ deal for evidence on this.
Before you talk, get your facts right.
The dividend by PPP clearly added value and this is a step forward for these guys. Tomlinson is one smart cookie.
My view on the 15%, TR is a control freak and he want let PPP go. I done beleive that they will make an offer, as the investment is just psuedo control. They may buy up to 20%, but I doubt a bid is forthcoming.
Also, good luck with completing a takeover between now and the Taranaki drilling. If they dont offer a big premium, I will happily stay for the next phase on the Taranaki Basin.
Dislosure: I own lots of PPP and AWE shares for the Taranaki programme
Cheers
