That situation they could possibly design build and run a packer in from each end and protect the rest of the pipeline from corrosion tby emptying it and just keeping conditioned gas at low pressure in sealed pipe then, Surely there would be a contingency plan for a damaged pipe and equipment process already designed for the pipe size. Spare lengths etc. Concrete covered steel - not easy to work with on that scale underwater.
I wonder if they have actually seen teh pipe damage yet?
HK pipe from and anchor drag depending on bottom would have been distorted for a long length and needed specialist pipe laying exqipment to retrench and relay etc.
