re: rivkin report ... jimjj IMHO, RR has made more from his business interests than investing in the stock market --- specifically his stock broking businesses in the 1980's.
His current RRR newsletter has an approx 10,000 subscribers at approx $600 pa.... ie gross t/o of $6M pa.
Net off expenses and taxes, and we've got free cash flows of approx $3M per year---- not bad!
..esp. considering his investment record in recent years.
Didn't he tip PAS and HIH, among many others stocks in recent years that either flopped big time, or totally dissapeared?
Do you think Buffet would have picked these two stocks? .... would Buffet have even gone near them?
RR is nothing special imho.
He comes up with some good recommendations occassionally--- but so would a chimp throwing darts--- but he also comes up with some mega duds.
In the end it's up to the imdividual reading the report to decide which is a RR dud, and which is a RR goer... and if you can deduce this, then you're better than RR, and in no need of the report in the first place.
Having said that, there's no harm in reading the report to gain a different perspective. Just remember not to treat it as a printing press -- it's clearly not.
