I have asked this question of other chartists but never received anything near a reasoned reply. What do you think?
The repertoire of indicators and chart patterns evolved largely during a period when markets were little influenced by the advanced application of computing e.g. algorithms and fast computerised trading and turnover. How significant are these indicators today?
I use diversions between market price and Commodity Channel indicators as a guide to where the market, or individual stocks, may be heading. It works marvelously in hindsight across the spectrum but is a still a headache in real time.
I have asked for instance whether there is an indicator based on bot frequency direction, buyback money flow as a proportion of total market money flow or money flow to low share price techs. as a proportion of total market money flow as an indicator of possible peak exhaustion but get shrugged off.
Any thoughts? Indicators at the best of times are only that - no guarantees. I never engage hope as a partner.
A nice conundrum for a smoky bushy Sunday.
