Well then you get into the debate as to what is the optimum population for the driest inhabited continent .
Not wishing to put a case one way or the other but logically if something (immigration) has been good for Oz in the past as our pop. increases doesn't necessarily follow it will be best for the future .
A matter of how much and how quick I imagine .
