"Wasn't gold a safe haven go to metal when economies were decimated by Covid?" ....Gold has been rising since Jan 2016, then rising more steeply since Jan 2019. But in reality it has actually been rising since Jan 2001. So I would imagine any impact from Covid anything will only either speed up its rise or temporarily slow it down.
