Clarification - RMS bought Mt Magnet for $35.3 million plus replacement of $4.7 million in environmental bonds, they paid cash. When the CEO of Harmony was interviewed shortly after in a south african magazine about Harmony's sale of Mt Magnet, their last asset in Australia, he said they went with RMS over much higher bids from other potential buyers becuase RMS had the cash and that meant no transaction risk, no financing risk. Harmony were leaving Australia to concentrate on much bigger projects they have underway in PNG and Indonesia. Mt Magnet, with 470k oz in one pit and a lot of potential for underground extensions is basically too small for Harmony which because of its size employs much bigger lumps of capital and has to work it harder and as such it goes for bigger tricks. Mt Magnet is going to be aproducer in the hands of RMS, the mill is worth more than the purchase price if they were to replace it now. Just the potential income for toll milling in that region would make many company's mouths water. RMS did a great deal on this, they had the cash, they took a shot and Harmony accepted. Mt Magnet is proven, productive and the raging POG bull is going to make that a completely winning investment for long term holders - in my opinion.
