Come to think of it, it's happened before with other stocks. Maybe the announcement was about to be released but withdrawn last minute, and Westpac still went ahead with the alert.
Either that or some clown at Westpac just made the whole thing up. There's no similar announcement for another stock, so I doubt it was a case of mixed up stock codes.
PS. I knew someone would drag poor cal50 into this one.
