I understand that the concept of bots etc is to bring liquidity into the market to make it more efficient and effective - well that was the excuse for introducing them into the market years ago.

Yeah BS. Just like removing the ability for average joe's to see broker codes of which broker houses stock is being bought and sold through, the only purpose of introducing BOTS is to grey out the originally illegal area of automated trading and give the privileged another tool to give them an advantage over the average investor.
