I reckon since he was there for a minute as harry says, there's not much wrong with beeping. The guys aggressive response is wrong, sounds like he was probably on drugs of some sort I couldn't think of anything else that would explain such unusual behavior.

Harry the law allows you to exercise "minimum amount of force as necessary” in defensive situations, since you didn’t exceed the required amount of force that was required to contain the situation, legally you would be ok. The minimum amount of force had he tried to punch you or something would obviously be stepped up. Sometimes though, it is hard to keep things to a minimum, especially if you feel threatened and are pissed off… I reckon he would have deserved a bit of a beating though lol but I guess it's better you managed to control yourself, well done
