Astute readers will see the following paragraph in the new product info on Oraline (see website) as a beacon:

"• Detects recent marijuana use at 4 ng/mL (Impairment from marijuana at levels as low as 5 mg/mL has been demonstrated)
    • Appropriate sensitivity allows relevant DETECTION levels and the avoidance of problems associated with impairment, rather than relying solely on a strategy of DETERRENCE"

They will put it together with the info in Chapter 6 of the Australian Drug Foundation's report Drugs and Driving in Australia (on the new drugs snd driving website I posted on yesterday). Particularly the statements about existing roadside testing in Australia and its (limited) value as a DETERRENCE tool but not as an ENFORCEMENT tool (due to the very poor THC measurement capacity of existing devices).

A couple of quotes from that report:

"Key experts highlighted that, in order for detection and
enforcement to be successful, it is crucial that better
    technology is developed."

As one of the experts said: "The challenge is development of technology to allow greater enforcement, because unless we have that threat of detection and sanction, then people are unlikely to change their behaviour".

In other words, the days of DETERRENCE only are nearly over. We are about to move into the days of DETERRENCE with ENFORCEMENT. That is short hand for saying we are about to move into the days of Oraline 8.
