I've been traversing Hyde Park, Circular Quay and the Botanic Gardens in Sydney the last 3 weeks. I've spent 4-6 hrs on a day @3 days a week. Extremely popular tourist destinations. I have seen so many selfie sticks. Today I saw my first user of a drone at Circular Quay. I don't know what it was but he had a console in front of him that looked ridiculous. I wondered what would happen if I walked up to him and told him the law states he needs to keep his drone at least 30m away from others would he shut it down? He looked pleased with himself but everyone else was listening to the buskers.

These drones sound awesome. I was watching the guy for a while and thought it would be great to fly around an open space and look at things I had no access too but ultimately he was breaking the law doing what he was doing. It wasn't a drone I have been able to recognize (and I've been searching before I posted) but if the CASA laws remain the same then none of these devices will be legal in all the places you want to use them.

Just seeing one person using drone one and imaging 10 people using some kind of flying drone to take pictures in a relatively crowded place. The ROAM-E might find a place in the market but it's not going to be in popular places. It's going to be in private places. Maybe that will be a good selling point. What I saw today just looked dangerous. Some guy flying a chunk of metal and plastic over crowded space. It's the kind of stuff that will get regulated real quick, and the selfie drone will turn into the "As long as you are not near anyone else you can use your drone" kind of law.
