In stark contrast to the current Government, the two companies, Coles and Woolworths have a record of high class financial control.
Am indebted to "Kenneth Galbraith" (post 9523, 27/7)for exposing some "classic" Gillard responses on this subject.
In the interview with Allan Jones we hear Gillard banging on about the "Hike" (or similar) in groceries that could result from Abbott's proposed surcharge on Coles and Woolworths to fund Parental Leave.
"Hike" Prime Minister ? Some Hike. What Julia avoided was the specific AMOUNT of the so called "Hike".....well as we now know the actual amount was approx 20 cents per 100 dollars. (i.e. one fifth the cost of a chocolate frog).
No mention either of course that the efficient Coles and Woolworths would be able to absorb the cost by cutting down on overheads rather than raising the cost for us consumers.Classic.
