The timing of the sale of discounted Dick Smith gift cards (bonus value can be taken as a de facto discount) is interesting. I believe the sale started on 23/12/2015. Less than 2 weeks later, here we are, in voluntary administration.

It surely raises questions of how much management knew about their insolvency risk, and their subsequent inability to honour those gift cards, before they embarked on what was a tactic clearly designed to boost sales of their gift cards.
