In addition to this it's a fairly safe bet that there will be a US announcement in the near future.
"No German automaker or component supplier produces battery cells for electric vehicles, and none has concrete plans for doing so given the massive investment that creating homegrown production would entail."
Bad luck mbot your hypothesis that manufacturers like Daimler will produce their own cells is just more hot air.
